Eyelids Shut Wide
Hello Beautiful,
Beautiful creature of light and sound, I could also call you this - a beautiful creature of light and sound and swirling colors. Our scientists call it energy. You are a creature of the most pure energy the world - the universe - has ever known. Isn’t that something?
What shall I write to you today? As I sit here jotting down these lines, I wonder what it is that you’re doing, at this exact moment in time. Are you in a field picking a pink blossom from a green vine? Are you in a tall building with white walls, staring at a ticking clock, perhaps a digital clock blinking each new number oh so slowly? Are you someplace unsafe, are you holding your mother or father, or your child to your chest as strangers run past your front door, taking over your home and making their cruel demands? Are you alone, in a bedroom, in any room, sitting quietly and whispering in the back of your mind, that you are not good enough? Beautiful friend, think of where you are - wherever you are…. Have you done it?
Have you paused, and taken notice? Do you see the spaces and colors around you, do you see the different shapes? Do you smell the smells, and feel the edges? Are you plopping each of these things atop one another - so that the whole is formed, your exact position in time and space?
Now…. What are you thinking? What are you feeling? Are your thoughts clear to you? Are they a haze? Could you write them down if you needed to? Could you speak them out loud? When you come to understand your thoughts, is it now that you want to change them? Do they stay the same?
What about your heart? What is the feeling in the center of your chest? It is light or heavy, it is tightly wound or open loosely? Does it feel small and aching, or large and bursting? Are none of these true, does it feel something else all together?
Are you pulling out of your perceived reality, and slipping into truth? Do you see how there is something in-between; in-between what seems real, and what is real. Are you sensing that what is real, feels different - you cannot quite understand, but there is a part of you that feels strange, that feels strange to be sitting in skin.
Oh my beautiful friend, now…
Stop.
Silence fills the room, the space between your ears.
I have a secret for you.
I am there too.
I am with you. I see the same shapes, colors and edges. I think the same twisted knots and dotted lines. I feel the same pangs, whooshes and expansions. My heart beats too, and my heart beats with you.
Let me tell you story….
There was once a girl who was born to a land that all felt very bizarre. She looked up - on that day of her birth - she saw the sky, the moon, the stars. She looked down - on the second day after - she saw the grass, the earth, the ground. She looked out - on that third day of breath, of breathing in and out - she saw others; an assortment of colors - standing tall, standing short, moving fast, moving slow, eating and laughing and crying and fighting, sleeping and waking, all over and over again and again - and all to the rhythm of some strange drum, a heartbeat; and an overhead sun. It would dip beneath the line at the edge of their sight - the yellow-orange globe glowing bright - and then darkness would spill over the land, until the yellow-orange ball would float up again - and in this way they lived; caught between a day and a night, chanting silent miseries, their fear of abandonment, of being left all alone in the whirlpool of transposing light. The land seemed desolate, devoid of rhyme and reason, without cause for their plight. The girl was very frightened. She too, like the others - cried. But then, she remembered - she closed her eyes. And hidden there, within eyelids shut wide, magic unveiled the guise.
Close your eyes - dear, sweet, beautiful friend, wherever you are, whatever you feel. For I am there too, pounding within you. I uphold your truths, and I fashion for you a ship made of invisible thread - together we sail atop of all that is not; two heartbeats - links in a web.
I love you friend. I hope you are having a wonderful day. And if you are not, know that I am sending you love. Your joy is my joy too.
We’re in this together,
